MACUDA
A home for Six
Macuda is a beautifully designed detached villa on a generous plot, ideal for a family of six. The home features a basement, elevated ground floor, first floor, and a receded roof room, emphasizing comfort and contemporary living. A key focus of the design was to connect the interiors with the surrounding garden, creating a welcoming environment for family life and entertaining.
Originally, the site housed a modest pre-1968 villa, characterized by a rustic masonry wall and archway, which was retained and adapted to blend with the new design, preserving a link to the past. The combination of traditional elements with modern timber cladding and lush landscaping allows the villa to harmonize with its environment.
The layout includes spacious open-plan living areas that flow into an outdoor dining space through large glazed openings. Thoughtfully concealed staircases maintain a clean aesthetic, and kitchen cabinetry is integrated to maximize space efficiency.
The villa’s elevated design provides excellent views while minimizing visual impact on the neighborhood. Finished with crisp white plaster and contrasting limestone, the home features natural materials complemented by abundant greenery.
A sustainable approach guided the design, incorporating elements such as insulated walls, thermal break technology, and a sunken courtyard for natural light and ventilation. An underground rainwater reservoir collects runoff for irrigation, and photovoltaic panels discreetly installed on the roof enhance energy efficiency.
